Know Your Value: Why Prioritizing Yourself Is Essential for Your Well-Being

Victoria Smith • November 18, 2025

As women, we often carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. We care deeply, give endlessly, and nurture constantly. But all too often, in the midst of tending to everyone else’s needs, we lose sight of our own.

Between work, school, motherhood, marriage, friendships, and family responsibilities, our personal goals and dreams can quietly slip to the bottom of the list. We tell ourselves, I’ll get to it later. But later rarely comes.

When Your Cup Is Full… Until It Isn’t

Have you ever started your morning feeling energized, motivated, even excited—only to reach the end of the day feeling completely EMPTY? You look back and realize that you barely touched anything you needed or wanted to do for yourself?

If you said “yes,” please know this: you are not alone.

I’ve lived it. For a while, this empty-cup feeling became my “normal,” and eventually, it pushed me into a depressive state. I had just lost my job, was nursing my 3rd child, helping my 13-year-old navigate virtual school, and preparing my 4-year-old for kindergarten. And the one thing I loved—exercising—something I had done consistently for over eight years, suddenly felt impossible. I had no energy and no time.

The struggle wasn’t just real. It was overwhelming.

The Moment Everything Changed

One day, I hit a wall. Physically. Mentally. Emotionally. I loved being a wife and a mother, but somewhere in the mix of those roles, I started to lose my own identity. I found myself asking:

Who is Victoria Smith outside of being a wife and mom?

And when the answer felt unclear, I knew something needed to change.

I realized that in order to show up fully for my family, I had to start showing up for myself first. Not last. Not “when I have time.” But intentionally and consistently.

The Birth of Know Your Value

That realization led me to restart my personal training and nutrition coaching business—Know Your Value.

I wanted to create a space where women could rediscover themselves through movement, nourishment, and community. A space where you are encouraged, supported, and reminded that your needs matter. Your goals matter. YOU matter.

Know Your Value was created for women from all backgrounds and fitness levels who want to:

  • Lose weight
  • Maintain their weight
  • Build muscle
  • Tone their bodies
  • Improve their health
  • Or simply move because it makes them happy

No matter your starting point, you belong here.

You Are More Than a Number

One core belief we emphasize at KYV is this:

You are more than the number on the scale.

That number does not define your worth.
It does not measure your value.
It does not determine the type of woman, mother, partner, or friend you are.

Yes, weight can affect your health and mental well-being, but it should never control your life or dictate your happiness. Instead, we focus on:

  • Sustainable change
  • Building confidence
  • Prioritizing self-care
  • Creating healthy habits
  • Celebrating progress—big and small

Because life is too short to let a number steal your joy.

Take Small Steps. Make Time for You. Enjoy the Journey.

You don’t have to overhaul your entire life to make progress. Start small. Move your body. Nourish yourself. Take five minutes of quiet. Celebrate tiny wins.

Every step forward is a step toward rediscovering your value.

And if you’re ready—truly ready—to begin that journey, I would be honored to be your coach.

Let’s Do This Together

You are worth it.
You are fierce.
You are strong.
You can accomplish anything.

So… what are you waiting for?
Let’s start your journey to truly knowing your value.
